Together, our moments, first gently, awaken this
Unexpected, fragile flicker.
Warmth rises from deep within,
Blush rushes to my surfaces,
Exposing my quietest secret.
Your voice is autumnal afterglow,
Baritone whisper a sip of fine wine.
My lips part, always wanting one drop more.
This week’s d’Verse Poet’s Pub’s quadrille prompt (44 words): ‘sip’.
I like your colour scheme here – blush, autumnal, wine, warmth. All those red/amber tones, creating a sense of intimacy.
Thank you so much, Sarah. I cannot tell a lie, the colours were inspired by the colours in the Lady Gaga/Bradley Cooper moment at the Oscars on Sunday. That atmosphere seemed right for this little piece.
I like the thought of blushes exposing quiet secrets.
Thank you, Frank. :))
Beautiful imagery in your words. I sense a love story about to commence.
A lovely portrayal of budding romance.
So beautifully soft and gentle specially these lines:
Your voice is autumnal afterglow,
Baritone whisper a sip of fine wine.
The quiet shoulder of this poem was most enticing, well written Jo-Anne…! 😉
I loved this, I have quite a powerful blush myself. It always gives me away, so I really related!
I can really picture a scene here… such a moment of togetherness, where words are not needed, just being… it could be my favorite restaurant.
A gentle glow of love, kindling. I like that it was unexpected.
This poem is a gentle little gem. In few words you’ve conveyed what family love is all about!
